A NY blog mentioned a few weeks back that some CEP vendors have been laying off staff due to a downturn in their business [*1]. Although one must sympathize with those laid off, one must remember too that the moving cheese can be (and often is) good news too. [1] Some vendors have specialised in particular areas of business, like investment banking. Specialization can be good… until your specialized industry hiccups (and R&D budgets for your technology get flushed down the Hudson). Or this could just be a sign of Darwinism in action. (Although we like to think of TIBCO’s CEP technology as more Intelligent Design, … ).
